Re: Horsepower difference ?

"Catalyst reversion"...LOL
More like "catalyst regurgitation."

I don't remember what Graham called it but he did explain that because of lower pressure in the cylinder, the engine sucked pieces...

Re: Best Place to Buy Injectors?

I had RC Injectors in my 95 for most of the 20 years I owned it.

Re: Horsepower difference ?

Some of that info came from GM press info that was distributed in the 1993 long lead book.

The rest of it came from a conversation I had many years ago with Graham B.

Re: So Cal ZR-1 Service Shop??

I owned a '95 ZR1 for 20 years. I live in Goleta but used to live in West Covina. I did most of my own service work but would take my car to a Corvette specialty shop sometimes. Sadly, that...

Re: Spring guidance for a 1990 ZR1; FE1 = FHA? From England, GB

My data shows the FHA spring was not used on a ZR1, but never say "Never" as according to Marc Haibeck, a lot of ZRs had FHAs

The FHA spring was 93.1 NM/mm which converts to 525 lb/in.

Here in...

2) Inspect the fuel tank. Clean/replace as necessary

Re: AGM Battery recomendations

There are few AGM batteries that will bolt right into a C4's battery location. Odyssey used to sell one. In fact, I had one when I owned "Barney" my '95 (SN 00140). Unfortunately EnerSys, parent of...

Re: Tracking down the history of "Ten Penny"

Usually, Street Skinners had ported heads and injector housings and partially ported intake plenums. The TB with the oversize secondaries was on some but not all.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Re: 0W40?

Playing the devil's advocate...

LT5s with stock valve train don't need that level of zinc and phosphorous (which was formulated with pushrod valve gear in mind) because the cams act directly on...

Re: Wheel Compatibility with GS Brakes

I had '96 GS fronts on "Barney,: the C4 ZR1 I once, owned, for probably 2/3rds of the 20 years I had it.

The GS fronts are modestly stiffer across the "bridge" than were the standard J55 fronts....

Re: 0W40?

Thanks for the replies, folks.

For those who use M1, the latest 0W40 is "Mobil One Supercar". Among others, it's the factory fill on C8s w. LT2s. M1 "Supercar" is the 10W40 ESP that was rebranded.

0W40?

Starting in 2019, GM changed to a 0W40 engine oil for all Corvette engines except the LT6 which uses a 5W50.

Has anyone tried a 0W40 in the first generation LT5?

I would think that the same...

Re: Oil Temp

The analog gauges in a C4 ZR1 are not linear so they are pretty useless when you want to know the exact reading.

Some of the later cars can display oil temp on the digital display. If your...

Re: I think I found the cylinder that is not running optimally

That plug is badly oil fouled. I'm not sure about what I saw in the second image. By chance is that the piston top shot through a bore scope?

In any event, you may have a problem with a valve seal...

Re: I Asked About My Oil Dilemma At Bob the Oil Guy. - A40 Is the best?

Contrary to the opinion of many, 1G LT5s do not require high amounts of ZDDP because, while they are flat tappet engines, they are not pushrod engines, thus their valve spring tension is less than is...

Re: 1991 ZR1 engine knocking on idle

It's too bad the mic was not down lower closer to the exhaust and also closer to the engine. That is...two different recordings.

I've played that footage a couple of times. Once with the volume as...

I think you are indeed lucky...that you got a set of Nittos that have worked well for you and, lucky you didn't buy Sumitomos.

I remember "Nology" spark plug wires.

Great gimmicky scam that deserved bankruptcy.

It would be interesting to be able to cut one open and see how the guts of the filter have withstood 27-32-yrs in storage.

Re: LT-5 Press Conference Intro Video

Update:
I spent some time searching the hard drive which has all of my writing work back to about 1985 and found two stories I wrote in 1988, one on the ZR-1 and another on LT5. They were both...

Re: Dual Steering Damper

As for Nittos...

They're s**t compared to the Michelin PS2. Only tire worse than a Nitto for a ZR-1 is the Sumitomo.

In fact, until I got on the forum today, I thought the PS2 line had been...

Re: Dual Steering Damper

I think I've fix the bump steer issue in the C4 steering system, first before I'd add two steering dampers.

No doubt they "work both ways" in that they'll slow steering response as well as (maybe)...
