A few years back, well before the 2008 mess, GM was alledgedly thinking about making Corvette a seperate brand. Obviously, nothing came of it. The near future may be the time?

VW has Porsche, Lambo, Ducati
FCA has Ferrari
Ford has now entered the exotic arena w the GT
Toyota w the LF-A

Why do you think GM has been racing mid-engine "Corvette" prototypes for the last several years?

Not sure if it is the Phoenix. I plan to go to the show over the weekend or maybe on Monday. I want to see that car in person.

the new gt looks impressive but I'm disappointed they didn't throw in a TT coyote flat crank engine

the 600 hp will no doubt move the beast but it's not even to the level of the old GT

I'll take my ZR-1 with a 5.0 TT dohc v8 please

make the bottom end hold 1k from the factory and put out 750 or more in a 3k lb mid engine car

I'm really excited to see some radical concepts even being talked about

GM has managed to keep the vette alive, ,now build something that can take on the world with no excuses for less than 200k

Should the ZORA look like what C&D posted, I think GM will need to go back to the drawing board after seeing the GT .

I think I'm with y'all on this - in fact I know I am! But, I harden back to one of the reasons for why our ZR-1s didn't get the attention from GM that it deserves: (From the pages of "The Heart of the Beast") GM didn't want to alienate it's primary Corvette base customers sitting on the sidelines with some "supercar" that is out of their (financial) league! (What is the old saying? "It's hard to be an eagle when you're flying with pigeons?") I can almost hear the same old BS we've heard from the rabble being pointed at the ZR-1, can't you?

The ZR-1, tho hated by many at GM and its base model customers (to this day in some circles), it set the stage for better things to follow. I say it is about time to come out of the cocoon of the past (front-engine, pickup truck compliant motor) and come out with a mid engine, high revving, boosted DOHC mill with all the state of the art goodies like independent VVT, direct injection, etc, etc. and be a pace-setter once again...or get left in the dust!!! JMO.

The GT looks too experimental; the production cars will look a little differant.
