The BiG Bend Open Road Race near Stockton, Texas is one race of about 50 miles run out and back the same day or about 100-110 miles total in classes by speed. Objective is to match the speed for the course for the class you are signed up in as I understand it...closest one to the speed wins the class. navigator needed to help. There is another similar race, the Silver State Classic Challenge in Ely, Nevada which is 90 miles one way raced on about the same basis, class of speed, etc. Here is a 1999 link with a tuned lt5 ZR-1 running it. He is running at 162 mph averaqe and at times hits 200 mph with it as the curves, of which there are not a lot, slow you down so you have to make it up somewhere. You'll be very familiar with the cockpit that you can see.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AeNC9GDyYo I was thinking about shipping my car to texas next year and trying the BBORR but it's 1700 miles each way to get there, tons of rules and pre qualifications, etc. so it may not be worth the bother. However, if it were closer??????? it would be very interesting. I'd probably given how I drive cars enter mine in a 125 or 140 mph class just knowing that I don't push cars as hard as they go by a lifetime of driving habits but it would still be a big blast to let the Beast out for 100-110 miles.
