I agree Hans! In this case it sure would be nice to be wealthy!
Kind of has some styling elements that remind me of a 365GTB and a 330GTB.

Anything Carol Shelby has to do with is going to be great. I wonder what kind of corvettes he would have designed if he had got the call from chevy first instead of Lee Iacocca. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2mn3uEZtg4

Sort of like buying a Warhol before his death.
People picking up any Shelby which continue to appreciate the older he gets. |

Beautiful car! You're right about anything Shelby touching being golden. WIsh we had some special Corvette series with Zora's name on them. Of course, they all have his DNA.

Great car and great price! The Shelby factory is right here in Vegas. Depending on the time of year, you can drive by and see what looks like a couple thousand plain Stangs in the parking lot ready for the treatment.
I grew up a poor kid in Palm Springs during the 50's and early 60's. I remember seeing lots of vette's and hot rods and a few cobra's along with jag's during spring break. Everyone cruised Palm Canyon Drive in those days. It was very cool. Still, my fav was 60-62 vette's, raked with big slicks and blower sticking out of the hood! Yaa baby! Sacrilege to the NCRs guys! |

My father is 68 now but he said even back then you never saw a cobra or a shelby on the road. It was very rare to see. It was a rich mans car. $5,000 for a shelby does'nt seem like allot of money now but he said that back then the averege family income was only about $3,000 a year so $5K was allot for a car.

It was rare to see a cobra, but in Palm Springs you saw everything. My dad had a service station there for years and some of his customers had amazing cars! Some of his customers included Steve McQueen; Red Skelton; Liberace; Dinah Shore and Alan Ladd. Steve McQueen used to come in with his all aluminum racing jag with side pipes, Land Rover and dirt bikes. He had a customer that had a gullwing Mercedes also! Another friend of our's had a Jag 140. I remember my dad taking me on a test ride after he had done a brake job on the jag. We hit 120 and I was really digging it! That was fast in those days! Back in those days it wasn't common to see Mercedes or Volkswagan either. Now I live in vegas and Mercedes are a dime a dozen! We even see Ferrari's and Lambos from time to time. In fact we have Ferrari and Lambo dealerships. Cars just don't seem to be as exclusive as they once were. Some are, don't get me wrong. I am rambling now. I just love cars!!

Yep! Growing up in Palm Springs sure would be the place to see that. Been there once. Saw Sonny Bono at a patio resturant. It was 125 degrees in the shade but with no humidity I didn't notice. There were beautifull sports cars everywhere there though.
