Halo trim squeak
It's relatively minor compared to what some of you are doing (i.e. pulling motor, P&P, etc...) but, just in case there are others like me, I thought I would share this with all.
Halo trim in my Z would squeak and rattle whenever I went over speed bumps or drive over rain gutter, especially at non-perpendicular angle. Finally, I removed the roof and both halo trim. Evidently factory deemed it prudent to glue 1/8" sponge on the trim to prevent rattle. However, factory glued on sponge stops about 1-1/2" shy of front and rear edge. Once removed I could see where the plastic halo trim had been rubbing against up turned fiberglass edge of the halo - scuff marks at front edge of the trim. So, I took 2" strip of fabric/foam material left over from redoing my solid top headliner and used double stick tape to attach it to front edge of halo trim. Sure enough, this eliminated squeaks and rattle. Obviously I do not have headers nor B&B. |
