Now that I have my LT5 all sorted out, one of the local Forum member sends me a private message enticing me with a Haibeck chip.
Well, I got together with the gentleman and poped it in yesterday morning. A few observations, definately keeps engine temp lower in stop and go traffic. I know its no imagination because it was 90 degree day in Northern Virginia yesterday. This ofcourse keeps the car running stronger. Nice to see secondary light light up as soon as motor is started and also nice to see skip shift light stay turned off. Lastly, I had an appointement out in Columbia, MD and drove around 495 to 95 North where traffic was sparse enough to open up in 4th a few times ( to and from). Additional timing advance caused no issue (with long history of pining I had experienced, although finally cured, still creates paranoia in me) and yet made the car feel much stronger, especially in WOT. Finally, hitting 7000 in 4th on 95 made me once again remember why I fell in love with ZR-1 back in 1991. Smooth and violent (so contradictory...) power that comes on when the secondaries open up and she gets on the cam is so intoxicating! I know all you out there know exactly what I am talking about already but I just could not restrain myself this morning. Now the same gentleman is enticing me with 4.10 Viper gear... |

I was going to ask if you had gears in the car... Maybe extreme gears... 4th gear at 7 grand with stock gearing is about 150mph! You hit that in the middle of the day on I-495?? If so, do you have trouble fitting in the seat with balls that large?

Sounds like you are happy with the Haibeck chip.
I know who the enticer is, I would say that anything he recommends is good info. Jim |

Also, not on the beltway. It was on 95 north heading to and from Columbia. My mistake for saying hitting 7000 in 4th. |

Trouble with where I am heading is that there is no end - exhaust, headers, porting, honing, paint, custom stereo, etc...possibly ending in a divorce due to pissed off wife... ![]() |

Man do I agree with the "violent and smooth" part! It's so addictive I think that it must be worse than drugs.
The part that always gets me is the power seems to never end ....till I usually bump the limiter in 2nd... ![]() ![]()

One of my project down the road is redoing the seats and door panels w/ leather and alcantara. I figure alcantara (triangular half for seat and seat back on 94-95 seats) would help keep my butt planted while cornering better. Also, part of door panel (top towards back that turns down and back forward) with thin foam backed alcantara might help interior look less spartan. Ofcourse, I know some prefer all business look as is. |
