Default radar detector placement V1???

Due to Arizona's agressive continued plan of photo enforcement I had to increase my personal protection measures to cover those times when passing slower traffic so I can return to a compliance speed and reset the cruise control. Ahem (less than 11 Miles over the posted limit). No really !!!

This is the first radar detector I have ever purchased. S0 I picked a used V1 unit last night over at CF.

Ok fellow ZR-1 owners I need some opinions on Valentine V1 placement. Yes I know about the cut out. But with my RFID gate badge placement (damn thing wont work unless in the cutout lol) and now my GPS and Sirius Antenna placement under the center sunload vent area of the cutout as well. So frankly the area is getting a little damn crowded!!!!

So heres the question is anyone using a V1 mounted before the mirror and hard wired into the mirror as a power point? I need to know from my brothers if this works for you or is it degraded performance as I suspect. Also any ideas you folks have out there on the subject. I also ordered the hidden unit display any thoughts on mounting that as well? I know this is a bold assumption that my fellow ZR-1 brothers use ahem radar protection!!! Help GC

If you can't use the cut out area the hidden unit may be your best option. It will be a lot lower then the windshield area and won't pick as good or fast based on the angle. I read a post sometime back that it would descrease performance quite a bit going through the tinting at the top, so I would assume the same or worse with the solar windshield.

Question Re: radar detector placement V1???

I wonder if the remote unit can be mounted with velcro to the dash or some other place without the need to cut? Also, where do you have the remote sensor mounted?
