Default Kurt White Short throw shifter

How does Kurt's short throw shifter kit compare to others with regard to performance, and install. I see you keep the stock shifter, and its a linkage change.

I took Kurt's shifter off and replace it with a Hurst. I didn't like the "throw" on Kurt's. Missed 3rd too many times. IMHO only.....

Let's see.. I had a KW Shifter, heck I probably can find all the parts if you really want it.. I bought it because that was all that was avail. at the time (1999-2000).. The B&M followed then the Hurst.

For the KW, you need to Mod the trans housing, also it lowers the rod attaching point so you could rip the boot over time and I found it to be very notchy and sometimes harder to shift. it did shorten the throw over stock though.

I have a Hurst in my 89 and my 90, should have been OEM or atleast an option.. I never used the B&M but I think the Hurst fits well, you could also mod a stock shifter if you want I think I have 3 or 4 Stock shifters around here..

IMHO, I would do the Hurst or if you want the retained Reverse Lock Out Ring then a Bill B. Modded Stock one..

The modded stock shifter (No Lift Ring) is now $155 and takes a few weeks to make based on my welders schedule.

Production time is the same on the lift-ring modded shifter as well.

I’ve seen the Hurst shifter going for $135 from Summit.
