Amsoil "AMO"...which one?
I read (with interest!) the "Heart of the Beast" article by Marc Hiabeck recommending the Amsoil AMO. Problem is, there are several AMOs and I'm wondering if someone could shed some light on which AMO oil specifically is recommended (in the article) for use in the LT5?

Re: Amsoil "AMO"...which one?
You have it in the link you provided. AMO 10w40. The list you have is all the same oil in different quantities.

I noticed some of the activity on the listserv around this, and thought it was interesting that some of the "Redline is best" people also have affiliations with Redline. People point out any Amsoil connection immediately though. I'm not sure why the double-standard. I have a feeling very few people will ever have an engine let go due to choosing the "wrong" oil.

Don't go stiring up crap. I was just saying that a dealer is gonna push the products that put food on his table. Nothing against Marc personally at all. Nor you either. Nope, I do not work or someting for Redline. |

So, there are a few oils that performed in the paper's presentation that were essentially in the same ballpark with the AMO. but since I'll be seeing Marc on Saturday, I'll take advantage of the fact he is a dealer, doancha know! P. **40kg four-ball wear (ASTM D-4172): 40kg pressure at 150ºC at 1800 rpm for one hour. The width of the wear tracks on the steel balls determines the relative comparision of the oils tested. |
