Clutch Replacement
As I posted in another thread in the General area (New Time), I need to have the clutch replaced. Anything specific I need to make the mechanic aware of about this procedure? I am going to use the Valeo clutch kit. They mentioned that the flywheel needed to be resurfaced, I know this probably can't be done locally so I am wondering what they can do? Just rough up the surface maybe? I am also thinking that might not be that big deal as it just started slipping, so I caught it early. Does the pilot bushing also need replacing? It comes with the kit and they have the puller to do this.
Any suggestions on making this successful would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Clutch Replacement
John:
Having just been into the transmission of my car... According to the experts, the stock Valeo clutch, stock throwout bearing ,and the fluted brass pilot bushing are the way to go unless you've got a stroker producing ungodly HP. I've read two different opinions as to re-surfacing the Dual Mass flywheel. If it were me, I'd call Marc Haibec and Bill Boudreau. I'd go with whatever they recommend. Tom

Re: Clutch Replacement
Tom,
I spoke with Marc and Jeff, they have both concurred that the flywheel, unless there was something wrong with the way the car ran prior to the clutch slipping, is probably OK and an inspection of it might be all that is necessary. Thanks
