VIN# Check digit algorythm "Beta Test"
I was intrigued by LGEFF's post regarding the algorythm for calculating the 9th character check number from the VIN to verify a valid VIN number
http://www.zr1netregistry.com/forum/...3501#post33501 I managed to build a little Excel program where one can enter the 17 character VIN number (numbers/letters) and a verification number is derived which should match the 9th (VIN verification check number) in the VIN number/letter series. I assume this may only apply to Chevrolet, or more specifically Corvettes or ZR-1s or whatever - I don't know. But, if anyone would like to test it (and I hope some do), feel free to PM me with their email addy (if not provided on the board) and if you have Microsoft Excel (2000 or later), you should be able to test it. Re: VIN# Check digit algorythm "Beta Test"
Paul,
I also built an excel tool, about 6 years back, to figure this out. I sent the results to Dave, for posting to the net. All these ZR-1 vin numbers are, or used to be, available in the members section of the registry. Todd |

Re: Update: VIN# Check "Beta Test"
Apparently there is a rounding error in the beta test which I will look into. When that is fixed I'll "keep ya posted", so hold off till then!
