Default Checking secondary actuators...

Ok, so I went down & picked up my new vacuum pump today & checked the actuators. I came up with 15hg needed to fully pull one side & 19hg for the other side.

Am I supposed to do this with all the linkage attatched or not? I have the linkage arms off now because they needed to come off in order to get the brthr box out.

On a side note, the secondaries seemed to be working fine with an occasional studder while engaging.

Again I am in disbelief as to how the car was running so well.....I'm in for a real treat when this is all done huh?

Default Re: Checking secondary actuators...

19hg is a bit much, mine are fully open around 10-12hg - on car hooked to linkage. GM had a problem batch of actuators made a few years ago, they start to open smoothly then bind up about half way through causing the rod to bend outwards. Had my parts guy order like 15 of them about 5yrs ago, if I recall correctly only 2 or 3 of that bunch tested good.
