Another dumb question of the day
back in march my clutch slave started to leave a puddle on the floor and i had to pump the clutch to get a full peddle every time i would go to start it after it had set all night. the slave and the master looked to be the original from the factory so i pulled them out and sent them to the zfdoc to get rebuilt. eventually, for other reasons, i ended up pulling the engine and transmission and the front cradle and now i am in the process of putting everything in its place. now, 5-6 months later, i have a relay that i cannot figure out where it attaches to on the car. it comes out of the loom in front of the brake booster and has about 12" of wire so i have scoured everywhere on the firewall, the frame and the lower rear wheel house looking for 2 screw holes that matches the bracket.
am i blind? anyway, i am in need of an extra set of eyes to place this relay in it's correct location. thanks all. |

Re: Another dumb question of the day
Just a guess... But, installing a relay in that area to relieve the current load (a DIY upgrade for the 90-92 ZR-1s) might be what that is. A photo would help!
(See Cliff's STICKY notes regarding that relay. There is about a foot or so purple wire from the relay that passes under the plenum to the starter - IF that is the relay you're dealing with)

sorry...forgot to include the photo.
google identifies this part number, 14089936, as a fuel pump relay |

Re: Another dumb question of the day
It goes in the drivers rear wheel well liner. I think it may have had two push pins but just going off memory.

Re: Another dumb question of the day
wvzr-1 responded to my thread on that other forum and id'd it as the 1-4 upshift relay and i confirmed it with the fsm. only the center hole attaches it to the frame and the attaching hole is almost under the down bar.
one more set of eyes usually settles the problem. now i can move back over to the other side of the engine. |
