Default Oil Pressure Gauge Indication

Changed my oil pressure gauge sender because I inadvertently broke the original while working on the front of engine.
My question is what readings you are seeing on the gauge at start up cold, idling after warm, and driving at say 2k rpm or so.
The new sender gives me a reading at close to 80psi at cold start. Idle about half gauge (40psi) after warm, and about 70psi at cruising rpm. These readings are higher than I was seeing with the old sender.
I realize the gauges are notoriously inaccurate, but just curious what everyone else is seeing.
Thanks Guys & Gals,

Thanks Guys & Gals,
When I first changed the oil on my first ZR-1 it was also the first time that I stared at the pressure gauge. I nearly fainted on start up when the needle nearly pinned itself.
As it warmed up it moved down a bit, but always wanted to be in the upper range no matter what.
I then realized that it likely always did that, and stopped worrying about it.
My next ZR-1 and most that I have seen all have that same characteristic.
Using differing oil weights seemed to have little effect on the gauge readings.
And yes, as you said, they are inaccurate or using Chevrolet language they are non linear.
I have grown fond of those higher pressures readings and now would be startled to see them in the more "normal" range.
Enjoy your ZR-1!

Marty

Marty,
Thanks for chiming in. I know you have looked at a bunch of them!
I'll get used to the new readings. Was just a bit concerned because it was different from the original sender.

I've had two read like yours, high (one is in my personal '91) and one read same as original. Must be some differences in the sensor itself, but like Marty says, just get used to the new reading.. ...

Thanks Steve,
Got the sensor from Jerry so am sure it is the correct part. With you and Marty confirming I feel comfortable.
As we cannot depend on the gauge for an accurate number reading I will use the present indications as normal and just watch for changes in reading that might indicate an issue.
