New ZR-1 Owner - Have LTPWS Questions/Need Advice
Hi All,
I just bought a 94 ZR-1 that has the LTPWS and Low Tire Pressure lights on. I pulled the codes today and got 24, 34, 43, and 54. My understanding is that 24, 34, and 54 mean that the RF, RR, and LR sensors are bad and 43 means that the LF tire pressure is low (which it's not). Is that correct? I need to put new tires on the car and am leaning towards removing the sensors all together. I would prefer to keep them on but since they are so difficult to replace (rare and expensive), I think it makes the most sense to remove them. Any thoughts or advice on this approach? Also, is it true that if the sensors are removed, the lights will stay on and the best thing to do is just remove the bulbs from the DIC? Thanks in advance. -Jeff |

That is the solution many have used. I have a 92 and have no sensors. One of the two LTPWS bulbs has been removed so when I first start up all the lights go on including LTPWS but then all go out. I did not know there are 2 bulbs so you just remove one.

When you remove the tires make sure that the sensors are on the correct wheel and on the correct corner of the car. Because you have a 94 the wheels may be on the wrong sides of the car. Yes the system does have lights to go on and off and sometimes it tells your tires low when it?s not. But I have had it Be true twice in the last year. A screw in a front tire and a piece of metal in a rear tire. I?m putting on new tires and I?m gonna leave them on. If I get tired of that service light I?ll put a piece of black tape over it with a unicorn sticker on it for my granddaughter?s sake. It must be a go fast unicorn though.

Re: New ZR-1 Owner - Have LTPWS Questions/Need Advice
Okay, I've been driving for over 40 years and I never needed a dash light to let me know my tires were down a couple of pounds or so. I still don't need 'em and when I had new tires installed I had the installer take 'em out. Just another gimmick, quoted this old guy!
