This started on my latest trip and I've driven about 700 miles with it this way. When changing gear with the clutch just being released there is a tremendous noise like a bearing is about to go. Seems to happen only when warmed up. Any ideas?

My guess is pilot bearing or throw out bearing. The pilot bearing fails more often. Either way you will need to remove the transmission to make the repair.

Thanks for the feedback. Unable to do this myself so have to find someone trustworthy in NorCal - or drive it half way across the country to one of the experts.

can you provide some more information?
year/ mileage? has the clutch been changed? any transmission repairs done? I ask because the trans is PIA to get in/out and it is not something you want to throw parts at and hope it goes away... John |

It's a 1991 with 85000 miles. No clutch or transmission work done.
