Wheel Hub/Bearing Tech? - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

I have my front end apart and figured the best way to deep clean my front spindles from ball joint grease eruptions would be to take the front hubs off.

My car has close to 100K and while the bearings feel solid, I cant help but wonder if new hubs "while Im in there" wouldnt be worth while.

Any suggestions?

Im of the mindset that if I can upgrade to better quality parts than stock since Im already in there, I may as well.

Saw some Timken units in the ZIP catalog and some really high dollar "DSE" units.

Looking for quality pieces that will offer years of trouble free (summer/spring) driving and plenty of spirited back road drives.

My choice would be NOS AC Delco, Timken or SKF.
If you do rears, note that GM changed torque spec from 160 lb ft to 190.

The front drivers side nuts were alot easier to remove than the passenger side nuts. Kind of glad I ended up disassembling

I have no firsthand experience but judging from the looks of them they appear to be a lot sturdier than the stock OEM front bearing hubs. Maybe someone who tracks their C4 a lot can chime in.

I ended up buying AC Delco Hubs from Rock Auto. I saw a video that claimed that Timkin makes the AC Delco hubs? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlGwvohCm6M and funny enough, AC Delco (as seen on RockAuto) has a 24 month warranty vs Timkin's (on RockAuto) 12 month warranty...

Time will tell but I plan to keep an ear out on any better options that may pop up.

I dont expect the ACDelco or comparable Timkins to stand up to hard use on a sticky tire...
