How much room do I have to shim the drivers side motor mount for the OBX headers to clear the steering shaft? I am also coating and wrapping them in titanium wrap so I will likely have to dimple them too. What shim size (max thickness) can I use without engine touching hood? I know it is close already. Thanks.

Thanks, I have read posts saying both yes and no, most requiring a dimple at least. I know mine are going to be thicker due to the coating and wrap.

check the health of the motor mounts... I hear they can deteriorate, this would drop the motor down some... worth a check if you are in there

Mine only required dimpling #1 tube by the steering shaft. I used the Maximizer headers that are the same as OBX without the polished finish.
Good Luck |

Keep in mind it's possable to push the engine over to the right a few mm if necessary before tightening the mounts down.

If you have kids, there may be some silly putty or clay about. But a ball on the plenum & close the hood. Check the clay/putty & measure the thickness to determine hood clearance.

That's a really good idea, what do you think the highest spot would be..seems like the front of the throttle body and ECM. No kids, but I have some modeling clay!
