Rebuilt tranny and found rear spring issues
When I bought my white 1991 ZR-1 #210 a couple years ago it was a rescue of a pretty abused car. It was running and drivable when I bought it but needs much TLC. I am slowly getting it back into shape. Engine work is done (stock) and I have completed some other miscellaneous issues. One of the problems was the syncros 1st to 2nd.
I just had the transmission rebuilt by the local shop I use, Pinnacle Performance. They did a fantastic job on the rebuild and I had them do the rear main seal, new clutch, fidenza flywheel, add ZF Docs short shifter and beam plates, then replaced the resonator with an x-pipe and added Haibeck's chip. Love the results...but...as I was crawling around underneath admiring the work, I noticed my rear spring is cracked and delaminating. So, next project is to replace it. My questions are, does someone offer a "kit" with everything I need, and what else should/could I do while replacing it? |

I'd just look for a nice used part, it sure you can buy a new one.

Re: Rebuilt tranny and found rear spring issues
You need a rear spring and the one you want will be labeled and likely stamped with the spring code: NYR.
At this point in time, it's unlikely, but not impossible, that you're going to find a new spring. Looking for a good used part is what you may end-up doing. There are a lot of NYR springs out there because it fits: 85-93 base coupes 89-90 coupes w FE7 and FX3 90-91 ZR1 Good luck!

What's your thoughts on the composite replacement sprongs, like those from Ecklers or similar?
