Silicone vs Rubber Hoses
Amongst the goodies I'm looking to order for my new ZR-1, I'd like to get a set of hoses. Jerry's has the silicone ones, while Haibeck has custom standard rubber ones? Any reason I should pick one over the other?

Re: Silicone vs Rubber Hoses
Depends on what you are trying to achieve.... original look as much as possible or various levels of style or "bling" as it's known today. In the very long run, rubber will probably last 8~10 years silicone will probably outlast the rubber. Silicone has a sleeker look, is available in colors, red black & blue. The same, matching colors are available to replace the accordian air duct and a better part.
Good clamps are important. Personally, I like the SS Worm gear style clamp with rolled edges & inner liner that don't cut the hose. We (Jerrys Gaskets) has them available in sets & individually for the silicone coolant hoses and also same clamp sold individually for the silicone air duct. Original oil cooler hoses have a poor reputation for leaking around the crimp fittings. Our "close to stock look" Oil Cooler Hoses are made with Russell black nylon braid, and we also offer a SS braided version. Same price for either, same pressure rating. Both come with black hose end fittings and our 1-piece, custom black anodized, Oil Cooler Adapter. Everything needed comes in the kit, except labor :-) Hope this helps a bit.

That helps a lot. Was just putting a couple of orders together, including one with you. That clarifies things nicely. |

Re: Silicone vs Rubber Hoses
Well, now that hijacking the thread isn't an issue, Jerry! Are the Si hoses - the air bridge "snorkel" smooth inside? (I assume it is, no?)

Re: Silicone vs Rubber Hoses
Didn't think I was hijacking the thread Paul. Just offering objective information regarding both styles from both vendors mentioned in OP's original post. My apology if this is considered hijacking & will be glad to remove my post.
I answered your question privately.

That being said, I'd love to hear about the air bridge "snorkel" also. How does it compare to the stock unit? |

Re: Silicone vs Rubber Hoses
If it helps I bought the Samco hoses and air bridge before Jerry offered an option, I got a deal on mine and feel they are worth it. The air bridge is hands down better than stock

Re: Silicone vs Rubber Hoses
a consideration is that these hoses were made a long time ago and hard to get. Only think I don't like on the silicone hoses is the logos. They work great.
That being said I owe samco one as my 90 deg elbow blew out and although the car didn't overheat, that was the end of the old hg the LPE LSV is going back together and will be sportin new MLS gaskets which hopefully are more forgiving I think a stronger alt might help the fan flow too. Going with the big spal dewits setup with the ron davis to hopefully run cooler my rants about "smelling coolant" was the HG likely weeping for years. if the car loses coolant, find out why, ask my how I know

Re: Silicone vs Rubber Hoses
i don't like the logos on the coolant hoses either. That's why I didn't put Jerrys Gaskets logo on the ones we offer.
