Need OEM oil cooler lines for a 1990 car. Have a leak on one of the compression fittings. Would like to keep the car original.

John, unless you are NCRS, please consider the oil lines from Jerry's Gasket.
The factory oil lines are known for failure and the aftermarket stuff is not that great. Lots of guys on the forum made the switch to jerry's lines. Sure it is not original but is WAY better than the OEM. Food for thought.

Thanks Bill. I already had my car chapter judged and it scored 99.8. I would like to keep it original and go to a national event but, it may be time to get the hoses from Jerry’s gaskets I guess.

With a 99.8, I'd look for original s well -- good luck!

John, how many points is that line on the judging sheets? Can't be more than 10.

You have a good point. I will check the judging sheets. I am wondering if there is any one out there that can repair the original hoses.

If NOS hoses are used and one blows, you will spend days cleaning up oil and lose points from the mess.
The deduction is minimal. Save yourself a headache. USE Jerry's hoses! Even if you pursue every NCRS Award, a 97.5 gets you through all. ![]() Mar |

Thanks everyone for your valuable input as always. I will give Jerry a call tomorrow and place an order. Are these hoses hard to replace ?
Thanks John 1990 #2331 |

Marty makes a good point- the resulting oil "explosion" will be a mess. When I first got my 91 in Oct '16, I went to a car meet-up in Buffalo TX. My oil cooler line was ooooozing and blowing back on my engine- it was messy. Steve Schroeder gave me a hand "patching" things for the return home and an order was placed with Jerry's that evening.
The install is not too bad. It does have the potential to get oil messy as you are disconnecting lines with oil in them. Nothing you can do except wrap the area well with shop rags to catch the drips. I you are catful you will catch every drop. You will need to get yourself some open end wrenches (21 or 22mm? I forget; Jerry has that info) for install of the engine fit fittings. Don't be afraid to use some "muscle" as the engine fittings are tight. I also found it easier to attach the engine side first and the cooler (Single 10mm) bolt last. You may have the new/stiff hose "fight you" a bit on alignment but it seemed you work for me . YMMV. It should take yourself less than 1 hour. If you get some beer and a buddy to help, it will take three hours and be way more fun.
