Default B&B Header Back System...

Anyone have the B&B exhaust with the Non Resonated X pipe instead of the resonator? There is no price difference. Seems like allot of weight savings going with the X pipe... I remember on the 92 I had the resonator seemed pretty heavy..

Will the drone be unbearable? Ill also have bullet cats installed...

Also looking at the SW system, but I like the polished look of the B&B better and it less expensive....

Any thoughts or experiences?

You may have seen this before, but here is a link to a B&B system posted here for sale in January. May or may not be what you are looking for and I don't know if it still for sale. --Bob

Had the 3" system with xpipe. Could not use cell phone on highway. Had the stock system reinstalled. Looked and sounded great, other than the drone issue. Drone was most prevalent in 6th gear. Tolerable in 5th at 75mph.

The excessive resonance is rpm and load related, not speed. The resonance spikes occur at two points, roughly 1800 and 3400 rpms, and is most intense under light load. It is mitigated with Helmholtz Resonators, which the stock and Corsa systems have but not the Borla. Also if you are switching to Borla, note they have fairly restrictive mufflers (or at least used to) and also use a restrictor ahead of the resonator as noted in these Technical Information notes by Marc Haibeck on his website. http://www.zr1specialist.com/HAT%20W...20vs%20b&b.htm and http://www.zr1specialist.com/HAT%20W...restrictor.htm --Bob

I have the B&B with 3" X pipe and 4.09 gears.

Highway driving is pretty good but it is still a B&B system.

It is not super loud to me but people hear me coming!

If I want quite I will drive my Prius.

I would too, but a squirrel totalled my Prius (chewed wiring harness)

If I’m not mistaken, the B&B Fusion system was designed to eliminate drone and have the ability to switch from loud to not so loud.

Only thing I never really liked about the Corsa was how low the mufflers hang... Just looks odd to me.

So Marcs write up is 11 years old, I wonder if they changed the design since....

The Fusion was introduced after Marc’s article. It has a vacuum operated valve like the current C7 systems. Never heard one myself but reports have been positive.
