I have heard that the o2 sensor readings can be a tuning tool @wot what are good numbers. On the chassis dyno they were920-940 on my scan tool. does anyone know ABOUT THIS TOPIC

Mine tend to be in the 850-900mV range. I don't think you could use it as a tuning tool, but it gives a general idea of the fueling. I think yours are near the limits of the sensors, I don't believe they read over 950mV, though I could be wrong. You might be on the rich side, though you'd certainly want to verify with a wideband sensor before changing anything.

from what i have found out is yes they are bypassed as far as the computer using them @wot but they do give readings. wot is a prewitten program in the prom which is the part people like hiabeck, vet docs lingenfelter. rewrite when we put on thijngs like headers porting etc. Where is the brainiact on this subject. i want to learn this stuff.

Well as long as we're having a noob convention....I'll join in!

I remember reading over at Marc's site (zr1specialist.com) he has a write up on the theory behind the programing...I think it's the theory....any way I took it to be a basic "here's how it works" for noobs.....that's why I read it!

I'm not gonna say I understood everything but after reading the stuff I kind of got a bit more of a grasp of what all goes on inside the black box. It might be worth reading is all I'm saying.

The FSM has a good writeup of how the fueling system works. Though at WOT it is a lot simpler because it is not adjusted by the O2 feedback. There's also a nice presentation in the "members area" of the Reg that Todd Pepemier wrote up on tuning that's an easy intro.

This is correct, and they are a horrible tuning tool IMHO. Tuning by the seat of the pants with the O2 numbers is crude compared to getting on any kind of dyno and doing a true AFR readout. Also a car can make more power with an atypical AFR as well. Preferably you will have a bung to get a more accurate reading than at the tail pipe.
