Default Speedometer correction

The Z I am buying has had a 4.10 fitted. At the moment though there's no speedo correction. What's the best thing to do to correct it. I know that Mark sells correction gears - are they fairly straightforward to install?

I also noticed that Ecklers lists an electronic corrector that is programmable for different gears.

Any advice?

Thanks

Dave

Buy the gear from Mark. You unplug the VSS, and undo the bolt that holds it in, and slide the old gear out and insert the new one.

I would check with Bill Boudreau (www.zfdoc.com) he is now using an electronic box for speedo correction...will work with any ratio you choose. The cost is slightly less than the speedo correction gears and you won't have to go into the trans. I believe his price is $110.

Thanks for the info on Bill. It looks like it might be a bit hard to arrange though, he doesn't accept credit cards and I don't think a cheque from my canadian bank would be of any use to him.

you would have to do a U.S. money order/bank draft. he would have to build in his shipping cost's from the start, that's the tricky part, because most people don't know what the cost is in shipping to us here. can't send C.O.D. over the border.

Does anyone know if this is the same thing?

http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?p...dept%5Fid=1865

If so it may be easier to order through Ecklers, even thought they're more expensive.

Have Ecklers 'borrowed' the idea from Bob? Or is it just a case of two people retailing the same thing at different prices?

Anyone know?

I don't mind paying the extra particularly if it makes it much easier to get (and there are a few other things I want from Ecklers anyway). But at the same time I'd rather support the original creator.

Dave, actually it's Bill...Boudreau. Give him a call or send him an e-mail and ask him if it is identical. I think it is. You could also talk to Eckler's tech folks and ask them if it will work on a ZR-1. The answer is likely YES.
