This is the kind of evolution we could have had from GM had they stuck w it.

Would good zinc levels be even more important for this engine design since the tappets are mechanical?

They probably use the properly hardened/prepped lifters/cam lobes on the mechanical flat tappets.

They didn't mention cam phasing or VVT or direct injection; the whole bag of tricks. I wonder if they were only discussing the changes?

Yeah, I got that; purdy sexy. Somewhere I read where another maker (Porsche?) was already experimenting with variable-length runners with rpm and throttle demand. Ah, but to your point about the LT5 and "WHAT IF!?"
