Default Control Data Module (CDM) Failure

Had sound on all four speakers quit all of a sudden on my 91'. It has been said that if you do not have 12v to the speakers (orange wire with black ground) the problem is the CDM. Well......as luck would have it, I had 12v at the speakers. Also had a little hush sound on the speakers.

So....replaced the Bose with one I knew was working from a 90' and still no sound. so now what......Oh geez......the CDM had to be removed as I had a spare from a 90' to try out. Well.....this is the second CDM I had to remove/replace. One CDM I found earlier not installed correctly above the Hush Panel (just sitting on the hush panel). Trust me.....I know why some guys just sit the CDM back riding on top of the hush panel

As it turns out the spare CDM worked perfectly and have to say......replacing the CDM is NO FUN but I accomplished it without breaking the plastic tabs holding the CDM in place

CDM Removal TIPS

See CDM Removal (CDM Installation NOT covered).

As an aside....I thought at first I was going faster than the speed of sound when I lost all Bose sound.....LT5s will do that to you

CDM Repair will cost between $125 and $180.
Used working CDMs can be found on Ebay for $100.

See Bose Speaker Amps and CDM Replace

I'm having any intermitant problem with my CDM and will be replacing it soon. Here's a good video I found on youtube that should be helpful in the removal/reaplcement of the 90-92 CDM.

Here's another question.

Only one speaker gives problems, I've replaced that speaker and amp and still no sound.

Is this a CDM issue or just another bad amp? i havent switched the sides around to see if the speaker and amp really works just the same spot (drivers side front)

Any help?

I am guessing ........ that sounds like a wiring/plug issue. See if you have 12v at the orange wire (black wire grounded) to the speakers (just disconnect speaker plug and test the plug input (female side) with radio/CD on (switch on)).

If you have 12v on the Orange Input wire, switch in a known good speaker amp/plug. You obviously have 12v on the other three speakers.
