Repair for weather stripping?
There is currently a thread about treatments for weather stripping. I was wondering if there is any repair product for weather stripping that is starting to chip and crack to avoid outright replacement. Any type of rubber caulk like material that might be smoothed into those spots to make it at least a little better before I have to replace it. My A pillar rubber is getting a bit rough.--Bob

Re: Repair for weather stripping?
I have used RTV and some plastic newspaper sleeves coated in mold release/non-stick cooking spray. Simply close the door glass on it and let the rtv mold to the shape. The open air ones just smear it over and level it off with a rag etc.
The weather strip does have to be reasonably intact, but i have used this method to repair a slice on my C6- it came out so good you can't even tell where it is without looking closely. |

Re: Repair for weather stripping?
Black weatherstrip adhesive is better. Wrap clear plastic wrap around it and tape it together. Used this on the corners of my rear hatch and it works well

Re: Repair for weather stripping?
I wondered if that wouldn't work. I'll have to try that too.

Re: Repair for weather stripping?
Thanks Guys. I will try the RTV or weather strip adhesive. Hopefully I will be able to make it look a little less raggedy.--Bob
