Default Morrison Dog Bone Throttle Body

Did anyone see this on Marc Haibecks Website?

http://zr1specialist.com/HAT%20Web/f...s/DCP_1509.JPG

We encountered this legendary throttle body on the Morrison Number 94 endurance racing car. We were preparing the car for the 2014 vintage racing season.

As the name so aptly describes, the section between the OE throttle plates has been removed and a one piece throttle plate has been installed.

Will be curious to see if my air horn mod nets any HP.....

*AC Bump removed completely
*Alt hump reduced
*Center gap for airhorn screw reduced and welded in to reduce turbulence

My guess is that it won't. As you know, I have 63mm TB on my 5.7. A restriction in the airflow will show up as a drop in MAP at WOT as RPM goes up. With the dyno runs I have done, I don't see that happening, not only w stock air horn, but with air bridge and cleaner assembly attached.

Mercruiser(Scott Skinner) found the Air Horn to be a restriction in actual testing; Marc seemed to think the same. We will see

99.6+kPa. Was MercCruiser using a 63mm TB?

I would have to go back and ask, they did progressive testing on an engine starting minor mods and documenting each change and variance. I was surprised when he mentioned cleaning up the airhorn was worth about 5hp.

That dog bone is cool. And this was made for a stock displacement ZR-1?
Are the openings enlarged also, or stock diameter?
It would be interesting, (and not too difficult), to dyno that in comparison to a stocker, and one that was overbored.

Does Marc have a theory as to what the ideal cfm a, (350c.i. LT5), throttle body should pass? Hey Marc !

The 94 SankeSkinner is not cammed. It may or may not be ported. It sounds stock and Robert stated that it didn't feel modded.
