Default New Pilot Sports

I'm looking at buying new Pilot Sports, and see that "tires-easy" seems to have a much better price on rear tires ($341/tire):
http://www.tires-easy.com/cgi-bin/rs...n&typ=R-128410

Has anyone purchased from this site before? As I've seen the same size listed for $515 on other sites, I'm a bit leery of a deal that seems "too good to be true."

Thanks for any insight.

This is the best price I have ever seen! However, I have no experience with this outfit.

I would think you need to be concerned with tire production dates. Many retailers won't install or sell/retail tires with production dates older than "whatever" - some it's 12 months, some 24. I would think that older date codes could certainly effect a resale price.

In their FAQ's they mention dates and returns but does shipping and handling apply to those returns?

Do you have a US shipping address that you can use?

When I saw your post, I was about to pull the trigger immediately. But I did a search and ended up at consumeraffairs.com. Check it out. Let's just say that people don't seem to like them.

One of the quotes I read, "They sell tires 4 or 5 years old as if they were new."

Caveat emptor.

Thanks for the replies and the information about consumer reviews and tire production dates. It never even occurred to me that they might be selling tires that are past their best-before date.

Needless to say, I'll continue shopping around.

Check my photos of latest Michelin pilot tread. I believe it has changed recently. 335 x 17's. image.jpg

I'm talking to my local dealer about new Pilot Sports (I decided to definitely pass on the "deal" with tire-easy), but he can't get a set of front tires in the 275/40 17. He said the 265/40 17's are fairly close in size and might work - can anybody here offer some insight into the question of the 265/40-17 on the front?

Thanks!

They'll fit, but they may not look quite right. If you're spending Michelin money, definitely get the right size. JMO

Tire Rack has 275/40 in stock, by the way. Great price too, but of course there's shipping to Alberta...
