Default Fuel Pumps

I did a search here and other places and have come up with a lot of info that raises more questions than answers, really. Most say "Use XXXX brand pump" or the pump out of a 19XX Suburban, but no one seems to really be referencing part numbers.

So, which pumps are you guys using? Some guys suggested using the Airtex ones (their website shows E3240 as the PN for the ZR-1). I'm not interested the Bosch Turbine ones, since I don't want to Dremel my pump/sending unit assy.

I've also heard mixed thoughts about the current Delco pumps since they're made off shore and the quality is iffy.

So, what do we have for drop in replacements? The entire assembly for $380 from Jerry is a last resort because it isn't cheap....

Also, does anyone know what PN/brands of strainers will fit?

Thanks!
Chris

Maybe don't do AirTech [AirTex].

DO stay away from AirTech.

I put one in my '98 GMC, against others' advice on GMC boards (because I keep tank FULL - which IS supposed to make a difference), and it failed post 2 years < 10k miles.

Thanks to several guys here for sending parts FREE; BearlyFlying, WeGone, Geezer, GoldCylon, and more there, TonyD, mike100, fletchusmc...
