Default Chip Identification

The chip mounted in the ECM box has "SST" on it. It is supposed to be a performance chip. Is there anyway to identify?

It appears I have a memory adapter from Moates.net that looks to have the stock GM BMCB 1620 9008 chip installed on the side and the SST chip on top. I guess I will just replace this with the Haibeck chip instead.

That "piggy-back" could have been used for several different reasons and yes you would just replace what's there with a new product from Marc.

Can I replace just the chip with Marc's or do I replace the whole ECM?
