Story is my Girlfriend likes vettes too and I hate putting too many miles on the Z so we found a Z51 that she liked.. This will be my main long distance cruiser when we travel. and like most things when you buy it used there will be a couple things that need attention. Ill seems good except it idles a little high ( 1500) and the drivers seat bladder isnt working or the pump . It makes no sound so i dont know. And I havent had time to tear into it yet.. all else seems fine. It has 39K org. miles , new tires, near perfect paint, and is a Z51 with a 6 speed.

Thanks Vilant ! Its Red metallic and not bad for a 1989. I believe there was only 229 built that were Red metallic, 6 speed, and sports seats.

Hey Mister....nice car!

On that lumbar thing, when I found that the rubber diaphram was toast the motor made no sound also. I had thought the motor was toast, but it is actually the diaphram that causes the noise when you turn on the pump.

If the seats are the same as a Z then the seat bottom comes out....not too far as the electrical connections to the lumbar & bolster & back angle controls are still attached. Anyway, at the front, bottom of the seat bottom cushion there is a black wire handle that is under the plastic trim under the cushion. Push down on the front of the seat bottom, and pull that wire handle down and push it back so it moves toward the rear and goes under the seat. Once you do that the bottom is free save the electrical connections. With that done you can remove the hoses from the pump and the pump from the seat frame. The electrical connections are tight...way tight so getting them apart will take some patience. Well mine were anyway, real pia! Go over to our NetRegistry home page and in the "maintenance" section, look under "body" and near the bottom of the page is a write up on the how to.

P.S. it isn't hard, just a bit tedious...sort of like doing the bushings in the headlight motors. More work to get to the issue than to correct the issue!
