New owner with all the same questions.

I finally got my beast 3 weeks ago. All I can say is WOW, what an automobile.
Color is white with red interior as was the original. IThe automobile has flowmasters, not my choice but livable for now, 4:10 gear set, drmp chip, and short throw shift kit.

Trying to save some time and I was hoping to get a response as to all the potential items to look for: Quirks, trouble areas, common problems etc. Thank you in advance.

Anyone have a location of a reputable Dyno near NorthEast PA?
Best intake duct? Tell tale signs of collapsing duct when WOT?

This web site is great, very informative and enjoyable.

Keep the rubber side down,
Chris

Chris, congrats on your new toy! Yea, these cars can cure a bad day!
White over red must look sweet!

You can find alot of stuff over at the NetRegistry site in the maintanence section, just click on the "maintanence" tab and there is a bunch of useful info.

Enjoy the new toy!

Chris,

Congrats... The ZR-1 is an awesome car. Still puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel.

Here's a link for air duct supports that Mark Haibeck sells and a photo of a collapsed duct.

Can't tell you how well they work but I would definitely check out his website when you have a few minutes. I'm sure there are other similar products out there that forum members can tell you about also.

Good luck

Ron M.

As to your duct, you have several choices. You can replace it with OEM, buy a support for it as suggested, or buy a Samco Air Duct. We had a group buy a little while back (link below) and you can still order one, but be warned it can take a long time before you receive it.

When you get the chance, feel free to post some pictures of your White KOTH.

Welcome Chris,

I think your questions have been answered with all the links available.

I went with the K&N open lid for air. As far as the duct: Go to a Hardware store & buy 1 piece of aluminum (5 or 6" diameter-don't remember for sure, just measure it-you can figure it out) venting pipe(snaps together). squish it to a oval which fits inside the duct and pop rivit it in 2-3 places. Make it just short enough to allow the original plastic duct flanges to seal to the "horn" and filter assembly. This works better than anything else & you can't do it cheaper (~$3-5), also gives a smooth inner flow surface for air current.

It's easy to get into the habit of too much preventive maintenance, I'd say if it ain't broke don't fix it. Chance all your fluids, that will keep you busy putsing with it. You could always change hoses too considering the age of the cars now but this is a big job-I just did it. Save every part you replace.

Be sure to have the factory service manual. You'll get better replies/answers when people on the Net know you've made an honest attempt to diagnose the problem and have the instructions to perform whats needed. Sometimes they will just refer you to the page that you need to fix the problem.

Chris,

How far are you away from Moscow, Pa?
I have a pal who is a dentist in that area and owns a black/black 90 ZR1. He can steer you to some HPDE at Pocono.
