Sport seat
I guess this is a technical question. How do you get the seatback off to get at the lumbar bladder? I looked at the diagram in the FSM, and I have no problem with the bottom. I have already rebuilt the airpump diaphram, but the bladder leaks.
Has anyone had success repairing the bladder? Is there a common place where they typically leak, like around the hose connections? Thanks

Re: Sport seat
does it pump up at all?
to access the rear cushion you push fromt eh siode of the seat inward to the center of the seat, then the cushion will pop off the clips

Re: Sport seat
It pumps up, just leaks out rather fast. I replaced the diaphram on both seat pumps. The pass seat holds air, the drivers seat, not.
Thanks for the info.

Re: Sport seat
Might just be a leak at the fiting to the bladder. Good luck
I think I have seen replacement bladders on eBay as well

Re: Sport seat
There is a thread about repair/making bladders in the net history. I cut up bike tubes, sealed one end and glued a hose at the other end. Then sliced open one end of the defective bladder tubes and slid the hose into the old bladder. Used baby powder to help slide everything together. Pre test the made up hose for leaks before assembling.

Re: Sport seat
Ive replaced mine, the biggest hassle is getting the seat back to release from the seat back frame. You will need some new hog rings and a set of hog ring pliers. If the seat bladders are original they are toast. These things disintegrate over time. The seat bladders are built into the seat cushion meaning they have the wire supports running through them, these wire supports cant be removed from the cushions so you just push the new bladders up into the seat foam. The seat back foam has a wire built into it that attaches to series of hooks in the seat back frame. You need to push the wires in the seat back foam towards the center of the car to get it to release from the hook. The best type of tool to use for this is something that has a groove in the end that wont slip off the wire in the seat foam.

Re: Sport seat
Thanks guys. Looks like I will need to get some parts and tools together before I get into this. My car runs perfect, everything works as it should with the exception of the driver side lumbar bladder. Being anal about everything working properly, I will have to do this.

Re: Sport seat
So did you figure out how to get the seat apart yet?
If not its really not hard to get them off you just need to figure out the way it comes off. I have some seat covers that I could show you were the clips are.

Re: Sport seat
Thanks Johnny. I havn't figured it out yet. I tried, once, to squeeze the seat back, but failed to unhook it. I think I will try and dig up some hog clips and pliers before I start. If you have pictures of the clips and their location, I would like to see them.
