Default 1 to 4

When my 1 to 4 light comes on my car does not force me into 4th gear. I can still shift straight down into 2nd.

Any thoughts or ideas?

It was for fuel mileage certifications.

On the LH side of the transmission, there's a silver canister about 3 inches long by 2 inches across. It's facing down at about a 45 degree angle. That is the solenoid you are looking to disable. Just disconnect the wiring harness from that solenoid.

There's a low-cost after-market plug that keeps the canister and electronics clean.

This is a very easy DIY project.
