SLP Claw, but not about horsepower

For those that have the claw, is it a bit easier to install/remove than the stock airbox? My stock box is really annoying now with the Samco intake duct. It's hard to get it in, and hard to get it screwed down. The claw seems like it would look nicer, be easier to work with, and I can't help but think it would let in a bit more outside air since the stock box covers those holes from the radiator area a fair bit.

So would I likely find it easier to deal with? Or no? I figured since it has some play at the end, it doesn't run all the way down to the bottom of that airbox space like the stock box does, it will be easier to hook up.

As an aside, I decal'd my Samco duct! What a cool bay to open the hood up to!

I am curious why you are having more trouble with it now that you have installed the Samco air duct I like the way it looks with the decal, and if you could get a few more close up pictures it would be nice to see it.

As to the claw, it might be easier to install or adjust, but as to it's looks, that is very subjective. Some people love the look, while others do not. I know that at least two people who installed it claim that their HP was slightly reduced, likewise with the Vortex, so that may be a consideration.

With the accordian duct, I could put the duct on without loosening the airbox since it is compressible. The Samco duct is not. So I have to first put it over the TB extension, then try to press the airbox down (as it won't move back because it is already against the front of the engine bay) into the samco duct. Plus, the bottom lip of the airbox sticks further forwards than the top. I suppose I could cut the Samco duct on an angle, but I suspect it would come out like crap if I tried, plus I'm afraid of cutting it too short as it will be unusable...

The SLP seems like I could push it back, then put it straight into the Samco duct.

Plus, the airbox never wants to tighten down easily with the Samco duct. It gets pressed back a little and it's hard to line the screws up with the holes. It's just generally a pain.

You need to get a better technique. I can easily remove and reinstall the Samco intake duct with the other parts you mentioned installed.

It appears yours fits better over your airbox housing:

Notice how mine doesn't cover the airbox that well on top, but on the bottom it is pushed over that ridge.

As an aside, I was checking out your cardomain page. You have Dynomax bullet mufflers as well as the B&B system? Am I reading that wrong, or did you add in mufflers?

I see the fit difference, but dont think it would matter either way. I loosen the straps and pull at the throttle horn area. It needs force compared to stock but it goes.
I added bullet mufflers in after the Triflo system to reduce the exhaust noise level. I removed pipe in front of the rear hangers and installed the bullets. Some pictures on my site are old and not showing all the changes done. I can take pics tonight if your interested.

I agree, I have no problems at all with the samco piece. Loosen the straps and gently lift the filter housing up where the samco piece joins (carefull not to scratch the metal filter housing on the front frame member) and remove the housing then the samco piece. Reverse for install. Should work fine for you. If your having a hard time with the hold down screws, take a small round file and open the holes a little in the plastic filter housing to give you just a little more play.

If it's no trouble, sure. Did it have any affect on power?
