AUDI UNVEILS R10 DRIVER PAIRINGS FOR HISTORIC EFFORTS AT SEBRING, LE MANS

Braselton, Ga. - Audi AG has revealed its driver pairings for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, an impressive collection of seasoned factory drivers who will pilot the diesel-powered Audi R10 in two of the world's most significant endurance races.

For the opening round of the 2006 American Le Mans Series at Sebring, defending LMP1 champions Frank Biela and Emanuele Pirro will team with Marco Werner, Series champion in 2003 and 2004. Rinaldo Capello, 2000 Series champion Allan McNish and seven-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen, who won the 2002 Series championship, will drive the other R10.

The driver pairings will carry over to Le Mans, where Audi hopes to become the first manufacturer to win the prestigious French classic with a diesel-powered car. The R10 is powered by a V12 turbo diesel that produces 650 hp and 1,100 Newton-meters of torque.

"Our goal was to put together two equally competitive teams for each R10," said Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. "We were able to choose from six Le Mans winners who have been successful for Audi in every conceivable permutation. We opted for a combination which we consider to be perfect for both cars."

The collection of drivers is one of the most elite to have ever competed in the American Le Mans Series. Each driver has won at Le Mans at least once and as a group have a combined 17 career victories at the 24-hour endurance event. In the American Le Mans Series, the group of six has won a total of 66 races and 12 times at the 12 Hours of Sebring.

The American Le Mans Series begins its 2006 season with the 54th annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The 12-hour endurance classic is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. EST on March 18 at Sebring International Raceway. It will be televised live on SPEED Channel in North America and MotorsTV in Europe. In addition, Greenlight-Television will distribute the race worldwide to more than 510 million households.
