Default People sure do talk allot of smack.

Today I was talking to my boss about a guy on this site (you know who you are) who traded his very nice white on red 20k mile ZR-1 for an even nicer 93 40th anniversary ruby red Callaway supernatural ZR-1 with 15k on it and how the Corvette dealership refused to even let him test drive it. And he say why? Its just a POS Corvette. And I turned around and flipped him the bird. He says well you know what I mean. It ain't no $300k car. He says man you can go down to the porsche dealer and they'll let you drive any porsche in the place. And I said yea but don't you think that's a bit harsh.
Funny thing is he drove the car a year earlier to San Antonio with Frank the other owner of our shop that sold me the car when the secondaries didn't work. I've even thrown him the keys when he had to go see a customer and told him that he really needed to drive I because the secondaries weren't even operational when he drove it and at only at half power. He just threw the keys back to me and made up some reason why he didn't want to. I said ok. He just acts like he's to good to even.consider driving it. He just has no idea. His only frame of reference is driving his 08 Mazda 6. I've worked for this arrogant SOB for 5 years. He hates Corvettes with every part of his being. But you know what I really think his problem is? That he really wanted it and when he found out his business partner frank sold me the car it pissed him way off and he just can't stand it. Frank probably sold me the care as payment for having to put up with that sob and make sure I didn't quit. Kind of a sign on bonus. I can't wait to start my own shop. And im Damn well gonna do it some how some way with gods help. I'll cherrish the day I hand him my two week notice.

don't let it get to you. not everyone likes corvettes, hell there are some days I don't really like mine either. It's just a car and someone saying not nice things about it isn't the end of the world, it's not even a reason to get upset. You get it all the time, at car shows, on message boards, even cigar shop talk. Just let it go, no sense getting upset about it

Let's just hope this SOB never decides to buy a ZR-1 and then join the ZR1 Net. It'd be a blast to watch him read this.

I know what you mean though. I know a guy that thinks Porsche's are the only sports cars on the planet. I just listen and smile....

Oh Kevin my friend its much much more than an ignorant comment about a car. It goes much deeper than that. Im under an enormous amount of stress at work. I do so much there and bust my azz for this guy. My own wife met him for 10 minutes and in just 10 minutes could tell she didnt like him at all. Im the first one there. Last one to leave. Dude! I give it my all and when I get home im so completely spent. I don't even go to car shows or the drag strip anymore. And I love doing those things. Thats what working for somebody you really dislike does to you. Ive just got to make something happen and get out of there. Its time.

Im 41 and I've been a machinist/programmer/designer since 1989. I don't want to work for anybody anymore. I've got to get my own thing going. Capital has always been the bottle neck for me. Don't have any rich uncles. And I don't want to refinance my house to do this either. I will just have to start out very small at first. I've got so many kick azz ideas in my head that I want to make happen. It will. Anyway I just needed to vent badly.

Rick... FWIW...stress is a real killer in more ways than one. It can hit you medicaly @ your weakest genetic point if allowed to go on for to long.. If it is that bad at work then you need to make a change for your own well being and that of your family. I have personally known some folks @ my old job that just didn't make it. Later, it was determined to be stress related. I'm routing for you to make THAT change you appear to need.

I remember one time he bid this job. It was a pump which looked like a big diesel engine head with 8 bores and oring grooves on the face and down in the bore all different widths and diameters. There were all kinds of inersecting channels for fluid to flow through. There were machined features on 6 sides of this thing. I had to reverse engineer the thing. Draw up blue prints. Write the programs. Make the fixtures and run all four of these castings. And have them done in four days. I told him that he was outta his mind and thats just not enough time. Maybe two weeks but not four days. No way. So I worked 5 days in a row 20 hours per day on these things. And on day 5 at 8:30pm as I was inspecting one of them on the surface plate and he starts whinning and moaning " Why arent we done with these yet? Whats taking so long? These are suppose to be done today." Then he said something real crappy to me and boy I turned around and let him have it. I said don't you ever talk to me like that again. Then I said I already hate f@%@ing working for you so don't make it any worse. And he just looked at me like a deer in headlights. Total silence. I guess he felt bad cuz he went out and bought me back dinner and apoloized to me. I don't know if hes got a thyroid problem or he's manic or what but the extreme highs and lows of his personality I just can't deel with. Anyway you get the just of my situation. Thanks for the support guys.
