Well I have been tracking down the cause of C41 code in my '91 and I believe I have narrowed the problem to either a bad wire on the ECM end or bad ECM. Before I start messing with the wires I was hoping to try a different ECM to make sure that is not the problem.
So if any of you Z owners here in Las Vegas would be willing to help and borrow/rent an ECM it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Code 41 is a cylinder select error. It should be a problem with the cal-pack or internal to the ECM. I can't see how it could be caused by anything external to the ECM like the wiring.

Hi, I'm Tom. I have a spare ECM that I could let you use for your diagnostics.
I'm over here in NYS/ NYC-suburbs area. I expect it would take a few days to get there via USPS. Let me know if you can't scare up anything more local to you. ![]() Tom

Thanks both Marc and Tom for the input. I was able to borrow ECM from fellow Z in town. Sure enough that was the problem. Worked like a champ with the "new" ecm.
So now I'm shopping to have mine repaired...

Did you swap cal-paks when you did that? Have you re-tried the old ECM after reinstalling the calpak? Or the new ECM with the old cal-pak?

the only thing I changed was the ECM. Used the same cal pak I had used in my own ECM.

OK. Did you put the cal pak back in the original ECM and see if that worked? I ask because what I don't know is whether it really is a defective ECM or was the calpak in need of re-seating.Or possibly the connectors with some oxidation.

Actually did try two different cal paks before I even tried the other ECM. Car had the same issues with both cal paks, so I think the ECM is truly bad.
