Hello all, a customer of ours recently bought a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTE that has a LT4 and ZF transmission. He is having problems with it and wants a upgraded drivetrain. The easy choice would be a LS motor trans swap. But I think a LT5 would be a bitchen engine for the Ferrari. I am concerned about the size of the engine and if it will fit. Can someone give me the largest outside width and length of the engine which I would assume would be from head to head.
Thanks Tom Full Circle Restorations www.fullcircleresto.com |

Length is about the same, 26-27", back of block to front of W/P pulley.

That would be a cool install, fill the valve covers so it doesn't say corvette most would think it's OE motor.
Put a stroked LT5 in it and it would be a bada$$ Ferrari. Pete

Think I would look for an OE motor for that one:

Thanks for the info guys. Yes people seeing that engine in a Ferrari without the Corvette on the valve covers I know 9 out of 10 would think it's stock. That's why I suggested the LT5 over a LS2. The owner bought the car with the engine transplant done but they also updated all the suspension as well. He likes to drive all his cars and owned a original ferrari awhile back, bought this one because the original engine isnt as reliable as a late model fuel injected powerplant. With the LT5 it would have that high pitched overhead cam engine sound.

Black wrinkle with Acorn nuts/studs would make it look vintage...maybe some cam cover knobs like the old ferraris had
