Re: ZF transmission fluid.
zfdoc says Castrol TWS 10w-60 full synthetic. It can be bought at the local BMW dealer only & it comes in Liters only. You need 2.2 liters to do the change.
I bought it from this guy the last time as the local BMW dealer is not easy for me to get to. http://www.velocitymotorcars.com/castrol.html btw, it's motor oil for an M5. The rear gear I used Mobil 75w-90 full synthetic plus one bottle of GM posi additive. If you use GM gear oil then use two bottles of posi fluid additive. Or you can use Amsoil sever duty fluid plus one of their posi additive bottles Tom

Re: ZF transmission fluid.
Should the transmission & rear end fluids be changed based on mileage only or should they be changed after a certain number of years as well? I have a 10k mile '94 and my Chevy dealer said not to worry about it.

Re: ZF transmission fluid.
After being in there for 17 years I would change both just for the sake of peace of mind.

Yep, those dealers are all experts. That is probably the same dealer that told Custer, "one last stand and you can go home"!
