Default Headlights-no light

I am having some issues with my headlights (91 #135). When I turn the headlights on they flip over with no problem - they just don't light up.

I've pulled both lights - they both light up when jumped directly from the battery. All other lights are working OK - just the headlights. Checked power to headlights - OK there too.

HELP! I'm in the "dark"!

Mike, my headlights at one point did just the opposite of yours. They would light up but would not flip over. With power directly to the lights the worked perfectly. It ended up being a relay that is behind the radio.

Mike, your 91 does not have a relay for the headlights, it's for the fog lights - I'm looking at FSM pages 8A-100-1 and -2.

Do either low or high beams light? Does the high beam indicator in the cluster light?

Thanks for info - to your questions - Yes.

All light work when switch is turned to full on position - parking and tail lights. Running light come on when button pressed. Headlight work with jumper wires directly to bulbs.

I'm on my way to a friends house, with FSM, to check system out - he's electrical capable, I'm just down right dangerious with sparks!

Lights are working! With just a flix of a switch (dimmer switch on turn signal lever) all is well! I knew I hated electricy way back in Auto Mechanics 101 in high school! I wish all the repairs where this easy and cheap (ZERO $$$$)!

Mike, you might want buy a replacement dimmer switch for the day it fails completely.
It's only a matter of time ...

Thanks for the tip.

Do you have a recommendation for a source?
