Default Replacement Engine?

Had my car up on the lift yesterday and noticed some stamping on the side of my engine block. Doesn't seem like they match my VIN # even close. So what am I looking at here....one of those replacement engines from early in production?

Rich,

That is the build date stamp from MC. Look on the passenger side on the bell housing.

Rich,

Look at thread (ZR1 Block Numbers) by LGAFF. It can show you how to decode them.
