Source for shorter flywheel bolts - ZR-1 Net Registry Forums

Replacing the dual mass flywheel with hydraulic bearing throwout system and see the bolts are now an inch too long for aluminum flywheel. I'm sure many of you have run into this. The bolts I need are about an inch shorter (or an inch long) with the shallow heads like the originals. Has anyone got a source for these? Thanks in advance!

Just did a search of the forum (should have done that first) and see 7/16 X 20 X 1 1/4 bolt was common replacement with aluminum flywheel. Suggested thicker washer (mine had none) so I would assume that the height of the head does not matter and standard grade 8 will do?

I would suggest a grade 11 for all flywheel bolts. I would check out arp's offering's, they do not require washers, and have many different lengths and thread pitch. Arp is about all I use on all my cars, to the point of tossing even the factory pieces when going with stock flywheel.

I believe what you want are three sets of chevy torque convertor bolts from ARP. I think they are 7/16-20 by 1.25 long. I forget the part number but I can get it for you.

Let me know if you find a #. I see the previous one comes in set of 6. I need two sets as there are 8 bolts. I'll assume it is the correct 20 thread. 65ZR1 I'll wait to hear on the others, hope your project is coming along well!

Project is coming along but too slow. You are going to beat me! A quick check of the catalogue makes me think it is part number 230-7303. They are 7/16-20 by 1.25, come in sets of three and have the hardened washers. The washer is a good idea with an aluminum flywheel. If nobody confirms this I will tomorrow when I go work on the car.

Thanks guys! I had an issue with the boss on the bellhousing hitting the floor right at the gas pedal on my project so the boss for the slave had to be cut off and the hydraulic throwout clutch package was an expensive but easy fix. Motor top apart for paint and removal of secondaries right now. Chassis powdercoated and all aluminum running gear shot with clear. E Brake fabricated and stainless tank installed as well. Making progress as time allows.
