So, I went to VW, without a part number. Ask the counter guy for a drain plug for a ZF tranny. The guy asks what it is for. I tell him my Vette. He look at me and says "your at VW". I kinda explain, gets me nowhere.
I go down to Chevy, had already checked on line and know they no longer support it. Guess what they tell me. We no longer support that.
I had called Doug to check the forum for a VW part number. He tells me 100-937.
Back to VW. Different parts guy, I give him the part number, he says "that's the wrong number, it's a 001-937, drain plug for an old ZR tranny". Where was this guy the first time I walked in??
So, I took 1 and ordered 3 others.
Now I just need to get the old one out.

In addition to all of the others: I've had success using aluminum foil between tool & plug if plug is/was 'boogered' up. I'll take a very large crescent adjustable wrench (harbor freight) and position it on bit right at plug.

I doubt you can blame the VW counter guy! You certainly could have taken either the part# or the image with you.

Steve, If all else fails I used a small pipe wrench(new) with sharp teeth and it grabbed the plug and turned it.

Got it. Heat on the case, floor jack under the socket to hold it tight in place.

Holy cow that thing was seriously locked up!

Glad you got it out.. Certainly recommend teflon sealer when you reinstall it..

I taped it with Teflon. The floor jack worked great, I just put a little pressure on the bottom of the ratchet to hold the socket tightly in place. Installed my new VW plug, waiting for more so I can also replace the fill plug (which I've already broken loose).

Picked up three more plugs today.
The part number from VW is WHT 001-937
If anybody is in need, I have two extras.
