I'm a fan of Teflon in the thread sealer. Have had binding with simply oil based stuff after enough time.. I really like the ARP sealer. Best and easiest I've ever used. These guys are in the bolt business, so I am confident they they know their stuff.

Before you pull the drain plug and drain the oil,
MAKE SURE you can get the fill plug out...

If you can wait a few days, I've got an extra
17mm drain plug socket, you can have. It's left
over from my VW days.

Not normally. We have on occasion when they were in a big lot of parts, but we have never tried to source them as they seem to be available.
