Default C Beam Removal / Replace

Hi All,

Just read the thread on the C beam "goop" 3M Window Weld seems to be the choice on install.

My question is how hard is the removal of the C beam after sitting for 20 years? Is the OEM goop turned hard ? What do all you folks do when you do a clutch or whatever and the C beam has to come out ?

Many Thanks,

Don

Don:

Removing the C-Beam is a PITA all by itself.
The goop, meh, not so much.

I highly advise buying a set of CBeam plates from "The ZF Doc" for re-installing the CBeam.
You will thank me later.

Boy! Now THAT would be a topic for an interesting "how to" video, huh?

Hmmmm.... Have to give that some thought!

To the OP: Those C-beam plates are worth every penny! Do a search. There was a thread not long ago re removing the C-beam. Personally, I've removed it only once out of half dozen times now - finding I could (as the FSM suggests) hammer it back onto the differential (using a heavy rubber-tipped mallet) far enough to allow the trans to drop down and back. In any case, the beam is no biggie.
