I've recently shipped my engine from the UK to Marc Haibec for engine work. I built up a crate for the engine and used a friend (Corvette owner) to ship it. I sent by air after his advise - it's quicker, wont get thrown around as much and there's not the moisture issue. Shipping by air isnt that much more and insuring it was a lot less than expected. For air travel it will have to be signed off as having been drained of all fluids.

For anyone looking to ship large items such as engines and gearboxes overseas contact Steve at http://www.moving-parts.com/
