As for the OP, I looked at that article, looks like it was Oct 2009, I assume all that were in Hospital are better or?

Well said. Spoke to Pete yesterday.... He has a few broken bones and does not remember the crash at all.

We only wish the best for you Pete and please keep in touch!

Thank you.
I know how you feel. I was in a real bad wreck back in 1996 in a 91 ZR-1. Important thing is all walked away. My ultimate closure was when I got another Z.

2. Front bumper cover looks to be torn off like one might expect in a side collision. This also doesn't bode well for the frame or the front suspension.
3. Look at how low the front end of the Corvette sits on the field. The field is flat but the rear end appear too high. This probably means that either both tires are flat or the front suspension collapsed in the collision (or both).
4. It's a little hard to see, but notice that both doors are open. Notice that the driver door is a reasonable height off the ground but that the passenger door (also open) appear to be much higher off the ground. This could be due to a buckled birdcage.
5. another clue would be the damage to the front end of the blue car in the picture. Given simple physics and knowing that the energy transfered would be equal in both directions, the front end of the Corvette is likely to have the same overall damage.
6. Look at where the damage is in the oncoming car. It is NOT on the inside but on the outside of the vehicle. Concurrently, notice that the Corvette itself is not in the opposite field which would be characteristic of a glancing blow. This probably indicates that the following sequence of events:
a. Corvette passes truck on the right side at high speed
b. Corvette reenters lane in front of the truck but on adding power to complete the pass starts to spin to the right.
c. Corvette driver overcompensates to try to right the vehicle and spins in the opposite direction as his tires lose all grip and he slides across the road into oncoming traffic.
d. Corvette gets hit in the driver side of the vehicle as the vehicle is mostly across the oncoming lane by the outside (passenger) side of the blue car.
e. Corvette gets spun around in this offset hit that throws the car in a perpendicular axis to its current forward progress and spins 270 degrees from the hit to sit where it is now.

Seems like incredibly stupid driving to me. The guy should have taken a high performance driving course to get even a clue as to how the car would react at high speed.
I'm guessing a Traffic Crash Reconstructionist or Accident Investigator?
