At the track, CCMANO brought up the fact that he and I have a 32MM solid sway bar up front on the car. I was wondering if this has much of an effect on the 60 ft vs a stock bar.

Removing the front sway bar was popular "back in the day" to aid in weight transfer. So I would say that a 32MM sway might limit weight transfer and affect the 60 foot times, which in turn would affect the 1/4 mile ET's. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

First off, unless somebody changed the sway bars,no Z came stock with 32mm. One of the FBI boys has 32mm solid bar and cuts 1.5's-1.6's 60ft runs 10's no sweat. For better ET's you guys need better tires, Sumitomo's just ain't gonna cut it. Unless you boys are looking for 1.30's 60ft otherwise leave the sway bar alone,i would suggest just better tires (BFG Drag Radial,Hoosier Drag Radial,MT Drag Radial). Pete

I used to remove the sway bar on my old T/A for drag racing as a safety measure. The 700R4 3.08 first gear, 4.10s and 315 BFG drag radials made for a hard launch. With the sway bar on, upon launch it would roll back/up and touch the Procharger crank pulley. I couldn't figure out why I was cutting belts until I looked at the front edge of the crank pulley and notice it was "touched" into a razor sharp edge when it came into contact with the sway bar.

In very general terms, the slower the car (less power) the more it can help, faster cars not so much, real fast cars will 'Use' some form of anti-roll bar to help aid launch.
